The new production plant of Metalcoat was inaugurated yesterday in Ascoli Piceno.
The ceremony was attended by the entire management of the company, led by President and CEO Matteo Trombetta Cappellani, as well as numerous representatives of local administrative institutions, including the President of the Marche Region Francesco Acquaroli, the President of the Province of Ascoli Piceno Sergio Loggi and the Mayor of Ascoli Piceno Marco Fioravanti.
There was also a large group of Confindustria representatives and local entrepreneurs, as well as the company’s partners, stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
The inauguration represents a milestone in the history of Metalcoat, which lands in the Marche region and positions itself – together with its own group, which also includes Alusteel Coating, Alpine Anodizing and Aleu – as the third largest production player in the European coil coating market, with the declared objective of increasing its export quotas abroad.
In fact, the range of pre-painted coils produced by the Ascoli factory can be up to 1,500 mm wide, with thicknesses from 0.25 to 3 mm. These characteristics allow them to be used in numerous sectors: from architecture to design, from automotive to shipbuilding, from aerospace to household appliances.
The colours used are made from eco-friendly materials, thus guaranteeing a durable and environmentally friendly product.
The factory covers an area of 110,000 m2 (of which 60,000 m2 is covered), with two production lines for electro-galvanising and painting. The latter has a production capacity of 42,000 t/year for aluminium laminates and 110,000 t/year for carbon galvanised steel and stainless steel.
“I am happy to say that our new home in Ascoli Piceno proved to be very welcoming right from the start: the cooperation with the local institutions, which I sincerely thank, has always been very fruitful,” said Matteo Trombetta Cappellani. “This is why, in just 50 days from the acquisition of the plant, it was possible to activate all the necessary authorisations to go back into production, in full compliance with all current regulations.”
“Thanks to an investment plan of 10/12 million euro over the next three years, with the consequent expansion of the production lines and the related new hires that will flank the employees already working in the plant today,” continued the entrepreneur from Bergamo, “we will compete – we are entirely Italian – with the multinationals in our sector.
“In addition to obvious industrial reasons,” concluded Trombetta Cappellani, “our companies are also motivated by the logic of social sustainability and territorial enhancement, with the aim of restoring the right value to production realities rich in history and precious skills, representative of that Italian ‘know-how’ that is synonymous with quality.”
“I am pleased to be here this evening in Ascoli Piceno, for an important group coming to invest in the Marche region, in this territory,” said the President of Regione Marche, Francesco Acquaroli, “It is important to continue to grow, to create new employment opportunities, and above all to give hope and a future to this territory, for our young people and families. We are doing our utmost and putting ourselves at the disposal of the business world. We are trying to do this with all the support we are allowed, investing in infrastructure because we believe that this territory has all the ingredients for growth’.
“I am really happy about the opening of the new plant: the arrival in Ascoli of entrepreneurs from outside the region confirms the economic attractiveness of our area. I would like to thank the President and CEO of Metalcoat, Matteo Trombetta Cappellani, for believing in the city of Ascoli and deciding to invest in our capital city: the new production hub will favour local economic development, while creating new jobs. Our municipal administration has always shown a spirit of openness and cooperation towards private companies and businesses: together, in an atmosphere of mutual and synergic support, we will also work closely with Metalcoat to continue to grow our community and the entire territory,” said the Mayor of Ascoli Piceno, Marco Fioravanti.
“It is important that a major company on the national scene comes to make a significant investment in the Marche region, in Ascoli Piceno, relaunching a strategic sector for the Italian System such as aluminium and steel,” said the President of Confindustria Marche, Roberto Cardinali.
The ceremony was followed by the customary lighting of the Christmas illuminations in the city centre, during which Santa Claus’s house was inaugurated in Piazza Arringo and a Christmas choir performed publicly, gifts from Metalcoat to the citizens, sealing the company’s closeness to the area in which it now operates.
