Today we meet Alberto Merello, General Manager of Alusteel Coating.
“Coil coating is a highly industrialized process that, as such, impacts the environment. In recent decades, however, many steps have been taken in the evolution of the production process toward cleaner production. For Alusteel Coating, respect for the environment is an inescapable value shared by the entire team and has become one of our main goals today. We are committed on a daily basis to performing rigorous controls and searching for solutions capable of combining processing perfection and environmental sustainability. In addition to this, we have installed a solar photovoltaic system of about 3,500 square meters, designed to produce an average of 570,000 kWh per year. A project thanks to which we will be able to cut annual energy consumption by about 25%.
Our commitment in the sector has been recognized at the European level; in fact, we have recently been selected to join ECCA – European Coil Coating Association, the prestigious international association that brings together more than 100 companies operating in the world of metal prepainting, committed to promoting the use of this material as an ecological, sustainable and high-quality finishing method.
Our journey toward environmental sustainability, however, does not end there: in fact, in the future of Alusteel Coating we see the introduction of processes and materials that will allow us to reduce our carbon footprint.”
